Switchboard upgrades and replacements
Including boards that have grown organically over decades and are now well past sensible.
Agricultural & Rural Electrical · NSW & QLD
Switchboards, sheds, irrigation, dairy plant, workshops and stock equipment, handled by an electrician licensed in both states who understands what a working property demands.
Farm electrical work is a different job to residential. The runs are longer, the loads are heavier, the environment is harder on everything, and a fault does not just inconvenience someone, it stops water, stops refrigeration, or stops the plant mid shift.
CW Rural Power & Electrical works on rural and agricultural properties across New South Wales and Queensland as its core business rather than as an occasional trip out of town. Chris Weaver holds electrical contractor licences in both states, CEC Solar Accreditation, a High Voltage Cable Jointer qualification, and a trade qualification as an automotive electrician.
On a working property that mix covers a lot of ground, from a shed subboard through to the HV infrastructure on a larger holding.
The full scope of electrical work on a rural property.
Including boards that have grown organically over decades and are now well past sensible.
New supply, subboards, lighting, general power and welding circuits sized for real use.
Starters, controls, protection and fault finding on the pumps a property depends on.
Milking plant, cool rooms, stock waterers and feed systems, wired to keep running on schedule.
Correct starting, protection and cable sizing for the motors a property actually runs.
Cable sized for the distance so voltage arrives usable at the far end, not just present.
Planned around the property, not around a one hour service window.
When you call, tell us everything you want looked at. A remote trip is worth planning properly rather than splitting across three visits.
We look at the existing installation, the loads and the runs, and flag anything unsafe before we quote on the nice to haves.
You get a quote that separates what has to be done from what should be done, so you can make the call.
Work planned around milking, irrigation and anything else that cannot simply be switched off for a day.
Installed and tested to AS/NZS standards, labelled, and left tidy.
Before we leave we tell you what is likely to need attention next, so you can deal with it on your schedule.
A very large share of rural electrical problems come down to distance. A circuit that would be entirely adequate over twenty metres loses too much voltage over three hundred, and the symptoms show up in ways that look like equipment faults.
Sizing cable for the real run is one of the biggest differences between rural and suburban work. Where solar is a better answer than a long cable run, see solar pumps, and for whole of property supply see off grid power systems.
Built for rural jobs. Licensed for both states.
NSW 163931C and QLD 1512016, so a property either side of the border, or both, is one contractor and one point of accountability.
Qualified High Voltage Cable Jointer, which matters on larger properties with their own HV infrastructure and is not common among rural electricians.
Mobile across rural and remote NSW and QLD, with jobs planned so a long trip achieves more than a single line item.
Switchboards, supply to sheds and outbuildings, irrigation and bore pump wiring and controls, dairy plant, workshop and welding circuits, three phase motor circuits, underground runs between buildings, and general repairs and compliance work. If it is electrical and it is on a rural property, it is in scope.
Yes. We hold electrical contractor licences in both states, NSW 163931C and QLD 1512016. For properties near the border, or businesses running land in both, that means one contractor rather than two and no gap between them.
Yes, and the distance is exactly why it needs designing rather than guessing. Cable size, voltage drop, protection and whether the existing supply can carry the extra load all need checking before anything goes in the ground. We work that out first so the shed gets usable power at the far end.
Chris Weaver is a qualified High Voltage Cable Jointer, which is not a common credential among rural electricians. On larger properties with their own HV infrastructure, that means the work can be done without bringing in a separate specialist.
We are a mobile business built around rural and remote work across NSW and QLD, and travel is normal rather than exceptional. Call with your location and we will tell you honestly what is workable and how we would schedule it.
Yes. Older rural installations often have a mix of eras in one switchboard. We test what is there, tell you what is genuinely unsafe versus merely dated, and stage the work so the urgent items go first.
Other work we do across rural NSW and QLD.
