Solar bore pumps
Submersible units for stock and domestic supply, with correct cable, protection and dry run cut out.
Solar Pumps · NSW & QLD
Move water where you need it without fuel runs, generator hours or a grid connection, with systems sized to your head, flow and daily demand.
Solar pumping suits rural properties for a simple reason: the water is usually a long way from anything, and running power or carting diesel to it is the expensive part. A solar pump puts the generation at the pump, which removes the cable run, the fuel and the engine service interval all at once.
CW Rural Power & Electrical supplies and installs solar pumping systems for bores, dams, tanks, troughs and irrigation across New South Wales and Queensland.
A solar pump either delivers the water you need or it does not, and the difference is almost always sizing. We work from measured head, pipe run and daily litres rather than a catalogue guess.
Solar pumping for stock water, tanks and irrigation.
Submersible units for stock and domestic supply, with correct cable, protection and dry run cut out.
Moving water from dams and creeks to tanks and troughs without a grid connection.
Trough networks and tank filling on remote paddocks with no supply anywhere nearby.
Replacing an engine driven pump with solar, sized on the real duty rather than matching an oversized old unit.
Ground mount frames built for the site and positioned for access, cleaning and future service.
Pump controllers, protection and dry run cut out, so the pump survives the conditions it will actually meet.
Measured first, specified second, installed third.
Bore depth or lift, pipe run and diameter, and roughly how many litres a day you need. If you do not know, we will work it out on site.
Where the array can go, what shading it will see, and how the pipework and cabling should run.
Pump, array and controller sized against real head and flow, with margin so an ordinary overcast day does not empty the trough.
You get the expected daily output at your head and flow, not just a pump model and a price.
Array, pump, controller and protection installed, then tested against the flow the design promised.
You know what the system should deliver, what to watch for, and who to call if it changes.
The most common question is whether a solar pump needs a battery bank. Usually it does not, and the reason is simple: the tank is the storage.
Where the property needs storage for other reasons, see battery installations, and for whole of property design see off grid power systems.
Pumps sized on measurements, not guesswork.
Vertical lift, pipe run and daily litres decide the pump and array, so the system delivers water rather than nearly enough.
Once installed there is no diesel to cart to a remote paddock and no engine to service every season.
Controllers, protection and dry run cut out specified as standard rather than offered as an upgrade.
It depends on the vertical lift, the pipe run and the size of the array. A shallow lift into a nearby tank moves far more per day than a deep bore pushing uphill. We work from your actual head, pipe length and daily litre requirement, then size the pump and array to meet it on an average day with margin for poor weather.
Usually not. The tank is the storage. Most systems pump while the sun is up and fill a tank or trough that carries the property through the night, which avoids the cost and eventual replacement of a battery bank. Batteries are only worth considering where pumping has to happen at a fixed time.
Very often yes, and it is one of the more satisfying conversions on a remote property because it removes the fuel run entirely. We check the existing head, flow and pipework first, since a diesel unit is frequently oversized and the solar replacement does not need to match it litre for litre.
Output drops, so the system is sized with tank storage that carries the property through a run of poor weather. Where the water supply is genuinely critical, we design in extra storage capacity rather than extra panels, because a bigger tank is usually the cheaper insurance.
With no engine to service, the maintenance burden is much lower than a diesel unit. Panels commonly carry long performance warranties, and pump life depends mainly on water quality and whether the system has proper dry run protection, which is why we specify that as standard rather than as an upgrade.
Yes. We fault find and repair solar pumping systems regardless of who installed them, and we will tell you whether the problem is the pump, the controller, the array or the sizing it was given in the first place.
