Storage sizing and load analysis
What actually runs after dark, including the bore pump on a float switch and the freezer nobody counts.
Battery Installations · NSW & QLD
Storage sized against your real overnight and bad weather load, installed and commissioned by a licensed electrician who works on rural properties every week.
Generation gets the attention, but on a rural property the battery bank is what decides whether the lights, the pump and the cool room keep running at three in the morning.
CW Rural Power & Electrical sizes, installs and commissions battery storage for off grid and grid connected properties across New South Wales and Queensland. The sizing question is the one that matters. A bank that is slightly too small gets cycled deep every single night, and a battery worked that hard will not see anything close to its rated life.
Getting the number right at the start is far cheaper than replacing a bank early, which is why we measure the load rather than working from a rule of thumb.
Specified, installed, commissioned and documented.
What actually runs after dark, including the bore pump on a float switch and the freezer nobody counts.
Chemistry and capacity matched to cycle depth, expected life and the temperature the bank will really sit in.
Replacing tired banks and expanding storage on properties that have outgrown the original install.
Storage the inverter cannot properly charge or discharge is capacity you paid for and cannot use. We match the pair.
Dry, ventilated, protected from extreme heat, secure, and accessible for service. Usually a plant area, not a sunny wall.
Installed to the Australian standards covering placement, clearances, protection and labelling, with documentation handed over.
Measured, specified, installed, tested.
We measure what the property draws after dark rather than estimating it, because standby loads and pumps quietly dominate the number.
How many low sun days the bank has to ride through. That decision drives capacity more than anything else.
Capacity sized so the bank sits within the cycle depth its rated life assumes, with the inverter and charger matched to it.
Mounting, enclosure, ventilation, clearances, isolation and protection, all to standard and all labelled.
Tested properly rather than switched on and left, with monitoring configured so you can see what the bank is doing.
Documentation you can hand to the next electrician, and a number to call when something changes.
Plenty of rural properties already have solar and want to stop running the generator every evening. Whether that is simple depends almost entirely on the inverter. Some units support storage directly, some need a hybrid replacement, and some older installations are better rebuilt than extended.
We assess what is there and give you a straight answer, including when the answer is that it is not worth it. For the wider picture see off grid power systems, and for generation see off grid solar.
Storage that reaches the life it was sold with.
A bank slightly too small gets cycled deep every single night and dies years early. Sizing it right at the start is the cheapest thing on the invoice.
Heat is what kills batteries on rural properties. We specify for the shed the bank will actually sit in, not for a lab bench.
Every install is labelled and documented, so a fault in five years is a short visit rather than an afternoon of tracing.
Enough to carry the propertyβs overnight load plus an agreed number of low sun days without cycling the bank deeper than its rated life assumes. We work that number out from measured consumption rather than a rule of thumb, because pumps and refrigeration change it enormously.
Modern lithium banks are commonly rated for a decade or more, but real life depends heavily on how deeply they are cycled and how hot they get. A bank that is undersized for the property will be worked hard every night and will not reach its rated life. Sizing correctly at the start is the cheapest way to extend it.
Often yes. It depends on the inverter already installed and whether it supports storage or needs replacing with a hybrid unit. We assess what is there and tell you plainly whether adding storage is straightforward or whether the inverter is the real constraint.
Somewhere dry, ventilated, protected from extreme heat, secure, and accessible for service. On rural properties that is usually a dedicated plant area in a shed rather than an outside wall in full afternoon sun, which shortens battery life considerably.
Yes. Battery installations are covered by Australian standards addressing placement, clearances, protection and signage, and the work must be done by a licensed electrician. We install to those requirements and leave you with the documentation.
That is usually the goal, and with a correctly sized bank paired to adequate generation most properties end up starting the generator rarely rather than nightly. We will tell you at quote stage what is realistic for your load and your site.
