Site assessment
Shading, orientation, mounting options, cable runs and where the plant room will sit, assessed on the ground rather than from a map.
Off Grid Solar · NSW & QLD
Panels, inverters and controllers sized to what your property actually uses, installed and commissioned by a CEC accredited electrician licensed in both New South Wales and Queensland.
Off grid solar is not a smaller version of a suburban rooftop system. There is no grid to lean on when the weather turns, so every decision about panel count, orientation, inverter capacity and controller type has to hold up on the worst week of the year rather than the average one.
CW Rural Power & Electrical designs and installs off grid solar for rural and remote properties across New South Wales and Queensland. Chris Weaver is a licensed electrician in both states, CEC Solar Accredited, and a qualified High Voltage Cable Jointer. On rural jobs, where the solar array is only one part of a much larger electrical picture, that combination matters.
Every system starts with what the property actually uses, measured rather than estimated. That single step is the difference between a system that carries you through a bad fortnight and one that has you starting the generator every second evening.
From the first site visit through to commissioning and handover.
Shading, orientation, mounting options, cable runs and where the plant room will sit, assessed on the ground rather than from a map.
What the property actually draws and when. Pumps, refrigeration, welders and seasonal peaks all change the answer.
Array size, inverter capacity, controller selection and battery sizing set together rather than chosen one at a time.
Panels, inverters, controllers and mounting, installed with DC and AC wiring, protection and earthing to AS/NZS standards.
Frames built for the site, oriented properly, and positioned so the array can be cleaned and serviced without a scaffold.
Tested under load, labelled, monitoring configured, and documented so the next person who works on it can see what is going on.
No surprises, and no vague quotes that grow once we are on site.
Call us with the property, the location and what you are trying to power. We will tell you early if there is a smarter option than the one you called about.
We come to the property, look at shading, orientation, access and existing wiring, and work through your real daily energy use.
You get a system specification and a fixed quote that shows what is included, not a headline number with the details left vague.
Mounting, wiring, protection and earthing, done on an agreed schedule so you know when we are on site and when the power is off.
We test under load, walk you through the monitoring, and leave you with documentation and labelling that means something.
We service what we install, and we are contactable when something changes on the property or you want to expand the system.
A large share of our work is correcting off grid solar that was never designed properly in the first place. The same handful of problems come up again and again:
If you have inherited a system like this, we can assess it and tell you honestly whether it is worth upgrading or replacing. For the full picture of how generation, storage and backup fit together, see off grid power systems, and for the storage side specifically, battery installations.
Qualified for complex systems. Built for remote jobs.
Dual state licensed, so a property near the border or a business operating in both is one contractor with no handover gap. NSW 163931C, QLD 1512016.
Clean Energy Council Solar Accreditation S2931181, which is the credential that matters for solar design and installation in Australia.
Off grid systems on remote properties are what we do week in and week out, not an occasional trip out of town.
It depends entirely on your daily energy use, not on the size of the house. We profile what your property actually draws across a full day, including pumps, refrigeration, workshop tools and any seasonal load, then size the array and battery bank to carry that through the worst run of overcast days you are likely to see.
Most properties keep one as a backup, but a correctly sized system should mean you rarely start it. We design for autonomy through poor weather so the generator becomes an emergency measure rather than part of the weekly routine.
In most cases yes. We work regularly on properties where access is limited and plan the logistics, mounting method and component sizes around what can realistically be brought to site.
Once you are more than a few hundred metres from the nearest line, a grid extension quote often runs well past the cost of a complete off grid system. We are happy to look at both numbers with you before you commit either way.
Ground mount is usually the better answer on a rural property. It is easier to clean, easier to service, easier to expand, and it can be oriented properly rather than following whatever pitch the shed happens to have. Where roof space is the only practical option we mount on the roof and design the access to suit.
Yes, and a good share of our work is exactly that. We assess what is installed and give you a straight answer about whether it is worth upgrading or whether the existing gear is not worth building on.
Other work we do across rural NSW and QLD.
